reflection in memory of the victim. >> it's a reminder that life is very fragile. our time here is limited and it's precious. >> reporter: are holmes could be in court as early as monday. >> and more details on james holes. he has also lived as a boy just outside the bay area. he was going to the university of colorado medical school but was in the process of withdrawing. septemberors say he used four weapons including an ak-47 with an extra large drum that could carry more than a hundred rounds and he bought awful those at the past two months and all of them are legal in colorado. >> reporter: the shooting is leading to tighter security in theaters here at home. some people going to the theater have to leave certain, usually harmless items at home. >> the latest showings just started a few minutes ago.

people say they will go inside the movie and not let the tragedy affect it. across the bay in san francisco, and down south to san jose. >> reporter: police are in high alert after 12 people were killed 59 were injured. >> we are very concerned about copy cat types of action. >> reporter: to 1207 that from happening here they are driving by and in some cases going inside the theaters to make sure everybody is safe. >> we are concerned, we have extra patrols, when the movie starts h it lets out. >> reporter: we were there as a long line waited outside the theater to see the latest movie. san francisco and san jose police say they will do additional surveillance, several major theaters saithe are review reprocedures. procedures -- procedures.

they won't allow costumes or face masks, or fake weapons. still, people here say though tragic the shooting won't stop them from going to see a movie. > it's terrible but i can't live my life in fear. god loving god fearing person. >> reporter: now movie theaters say they will give refunds for those who don't want to see the movie. you can come back out. there are other officers seeing outside theater. you may remember a shooting happened here almost two weeks ago. at six i will update you on the latest in that investigation. >> police say they have met with local theater operators to review safety issues. they don't have any problems to expect issues over the weekend but still they will increase the number of officers just to be safe. >> the president issue ordered

compete an acting job. she is waiting to see if the ethics commission next month will recommend he be stripped of his job or reinstated as sheriff. reporting live in san francisco. david stevenson. kdvu channel 2news. >> a two man paramedic crew was taken to the hospital after i traffic accident caused their accident to flip over onto its side in san francisco. all happened about 12:15 in 16th street in the mission district. the ambulance had its lights and sirens on when it collided at least one other vehicle. the injuries were small and taken to the hospital only ace precaution. a carjacking and police chase that started in oakland ended with a multicar crash in san francisco today. started just before two this afternoon. they spot a vehicle that had been car jacked, they chased on to the freeway and over the bay bridge joined by san francisco police and the chp. the car got off bridge at fremont street and crashed into

at least two cars, several people had minor injuries. they are now in custody. >> san francisco police say a man who was shot and killed by an officer this week after allegedly lunging at her with a box cut cutter was mentally disturbed. the family of the 32-year-old told them he had threatened to burn down their home and had been release from a mental hospital. >> he had not the slept for several days, prior to this incident and has been described as hearing voices, he has been acting out of character recently. >> reporter: officers were pursuing the suspect after he slapped a co worker. investigators say he was with in five feet of the officer wilding a box cutter when he fired a gun in self-defense. a judge dismissed charges against william lynch in the case. the county da told the judge he will not refile a charge

against lynch. as he reported here at five a jury acquitted him of felony assault but deadlocked on a misdemeanor charge. he was accused of beating the retired priest. he said that the priest molested him and his brother. today lynch said he was relieved. >> get my life back and move forward andalso a great opportunity to make a difference here and dry to help -- >> lynn the said he will invite the da to help him change the law so rape victims face no time restrictions on bringing charges. >> police said the shooting that killed a mother and daughter in may was a murder suicide. investigators say that the 37- year-old shot her 13-year-old daughter and then killed herself. police say evidence led to that finding. the shootings happened on may 7th at the family home on stacy court. the mother's husband came home

to find his wife dead and his stepdaughter wound. she died later at the hospital. >> california's unemployment rate ticks down in june. the employment development department reported the jobless rate at 10.7%. that compares to 10.8% in may and 11.9% a year ago. they added 38,000 jobs in june. the area unemployment jumped in june. solano was at 10.50, marin at 6.6, santa clara had the biggest increase with 8.2% to 8.7% in june. >> thing its just don't add up. the picture of a mass shooting suspect is a stark contrast to the boy they knew growing up. we talked to the colorado shooter's former neighbors. >> warmer temperatures, across the bay area. when the fog regroups, when temperatures spike over the next few days. ñ

about the suspect's photograph is familiar. >> it was his beautiful eyes he had, never put -- just amazed that he went into that it education. it's a lot of deadation. hard work, sad that something happened like that. >> reporter: holmes father was at the san diego airport on route to denver. >> no comment. >> reporter: at the suspect's family home in north san diego county a spokesperson asked for privacy. >> the holmes family is very upset about all of this, it's a tragic event. >> coming up tonight at six the california college connection. what his college is saying about him. back to you. >> in 15 minutes we are learning more about the victims in the colorado shooting including a writer who barely escaped a shooting last month. >> eric is on his way to aurora, richard thompson is already there tonight.

richard, what have you seen and heard since you arrived. >> >> reporter: the first thing we want to do is set the scene for you here. go head and take a look. this entire mall remains shut down tonight. everybody being kept away. law can do their work the only people that are here at this point a -- media showing up from across the nation and internationally and if we can push back there is still a large number of law enforcement officers there trying to gather evidence, we are learning more about james holmes and the weapons he had. he was armed when he went into the theater. he had the ar15 which is a military style assault rifle. also a remington 870 shot gun. a very powerful shot gun and several hand guns, 40 caliber hand gun was very large magazines, and of course he went in and we learned he

started shooting, there was one man with strong connections to our town in seattle who said he was in there, he was grazed in the back and he was in with a friend who was not injured, lost their shoes rushing to get out but of course tonight his heart is going out to all those who didn't make it out. >> reporter: from what i understand the gunman had armor, body armor from head to toe. >> he was extremely well prepared when he went in here to cause the devastation that he did when he came into the theater he had a helmet on, he had a reinforced bullet proof vest, tactical pants, groin armor and throat armor on as well. of course he had all that and then of course started to throw the tear gas cans before opening fire.

there is no question it was well thought out. we have learned today that he managed to get the weapons that he used legally here in colorado and those weapons have been bought we are told with in the last two months. >> richard thompson. thank you. this was the emotional day -- second suspect. faced a judge for the shooting of an innocent man and his two sons. rob roth is here to tell us what happened in court and why the victim's family lives in fear. >> reporter: here in the hall of justice -- he made a brief appearance before the judge and the wife and mother of the three people he is suspected of killing laid eyes on him for the first time. >> known on the street as flacco said little during his court appearance. he will be charged next tuesday with three counts of murder other license with other

crimes. >> reporter: he is concerned as anyone would be. you know we look forward to working with him. >> reporter: reyes who -- was in a car during the drive by shooting death of a father and his two sons. they say he was with edwin ramos. he is serving a life sentence for the triple murder and the da is seeking a life sentence. >> he was in the vehicle when the shooting happened. then led to the death of the three family members. >> reporter: during the trial earlier he testified reyes pulled the trigger but a member of the family who survived testified it was ramos who fired the so. >> we aren't charging him with pulling the trigger. we are charging him for being responsible for the murder of three family members,. >> reporter: the wife and mother of the victim social security in the witness protection program and asked us

the terror inside the theater as the gunman calmly walks up and down the aisle shooting people. incredibly one of those killed actually survived another mass shooting that happened in canada. rita williams is here with some of the stories of those who survived those who didn't. >> reporter: we can only imagine the shock and horror as a fun night at the movies turned in to a deadly night of terror. >> reporter: it was inside this crowded multiflex theater in aurora that the chaos started. james holmes was wearing full body armor and was armed to the teeth when he first threw the can of tear gas. some said as the smoke spread and they saw the gunman they thought at first it was a stunt for the movie. >> my wife jumped. i just -- sat there and laughed, thought it was a good sound effect. republican then reality hit with the bullets.

will end. we will breathe our last breath. every moment we have to live our life is a blessing. jessica was 25. reporting live. rita williams. ktvu. >> reporter: the father of a suspected shooter james holmes was arrived in colorado. robert holmes left his home in san diego earlier today. here you see him being escorted into an suv just after touching down in denver. the holmes family released a statement expressing sympathy for the families of the victims. they said they will cooperate. in the wake of the shootings paris premiere of the movie has been canceled. you can see crews breaking down lighting equipment and take away the red carpet. the fans say they are disappointed but understand in light of the tragedy. >> three suspected gang members have been indicted for a shoot that killed a child there oakland. they have a 30-year-old, 23-

year-old and 16-year-old who is being charged as an adult. prosecutors say they opened fire on a rival gang last november after a music videotaping. he allegedly fired the bullet that struck the 23-year-old. the boy later died at the hospital. six others were wounded. coleman was arraigned on murder charges today. both his grandmother and the child's grandmother cried after the hearing. >> reporter: i want to know who did it. why they do it. first -- >> how --. >> you three, good. properly. and -- i can't say no more. >> reporter: they also are charged with wounding two teens in a separate shooting that happened last november. a father is going to prison in connection with the shooting death of his young son. as part of at plea deal the judge sentenced the 29-year-old to six years and eight months

homeowner who is in his late 50s. he has been shaken and is in pain. he said he was shot in the right arm. a bullet traveled through his armpit and through his back. sheriff deputies went to this neighborhood in east san jose. they said -- he heard someone making noise. >> he woke up. suspect confronts him. shot one shot toward the victim. injured him in the arm and then fled. >> reporter: it's not known if he fled by foot or in a car. it was dark he could only see he had a dark hooded sweatshirt. this is the same neighborhood where a stabbing shooting happened last month. >> it was scary. you know -- we are -- this the two incidents, it's going to -- kind of like something to think

about. >> reporter: sheriff's officials don't think the two are connected. they are checking to see if anyone has security cameras that captured the thief or a car on video. it's in a hilly remote area you can only access by a two lane road. a neighbor said it seems to attract unwanted attention. >> we need to just make it clear. that if you are going to do something bad you will get on camera. >> reporter: investigators don't have a motive but are looking in to the possibility that the house was targeted. >> the coroner has released the identity of a woman whose body was found yesterday at the bart station. passers by called police after seeing the body of the 48-year- old in the bushes. that was around 12:30 yesterday afternoon. bart police are still investigating the death. >> a man facing up to 18 years in prison for abusing a teen relative. a jury found the 34-year-old

guilty on wednesday of ten felony counts for thatta cult. prosecutors say she groomed the girls for several years before starting to abuse her in 2010 when she was 16. he was arrested last june after the victim told her mother what was happening. she is set to be sentenced next month. twitter will appeal a court rule thatta inquire the website to release tweets from occupy websites. it happened last fall during a march and protest in new york. twitter said the court order doesn't strike the right balance with the rights of protesters and the interest of law. >> direct tv satellite customers can have their mtv because of a settlement announced today. they were essentially held

as advertised, most areas warmed up four to eight degrees from yesterday's highs, and 09's to report. out toward santa rosa, san jose at 82, oakland in the upper 750s around 79 degrees. for tonight mostly clear skies, still a bit of a breeze, this weekend it'll be hot inland and temperatures continue to warm up for saturday. the extended we go the other direction. high pressure developing, over the west coast, california, this will be the main source of the warming, with that, temperatures the warmest locations inland will be hot in the mid to upper 90's, of course we always have the micro climate and we will have the on shore breeze and the fog in the morning so the beaches only warming back up in to the low to mid60's. here is the forecast model. this could be locally dense fog. first thing tomorrow coast side, clearing skies into the
